Currently in Rotation - The Lonely Island
So I was super bored at work the other day and decided to buy an album on itunes. I did something I never thought I would do and that was to pick something out of one of the top 10 lists on the main page of the store.
Lucky for me The Lonely Island was there waiting for me. In case you are not in the know, this is the ‘band’ with Andy Sandberg from SNL. They have been responsible for D*ck in a Box and J*zz in my Pants, so they have the market cornered on dick jokes. (is anyone wondering why I censored the word d*ck only once? eh…).
The tracks mentioned above are on their debut album ‘Incredibad’ and while there are a few other stand out tracks, it isn’t a comedy gem by any means. The album is comprised of Faux-Rap jams which alone wouldn’t really be all that funny. The beauty of this album lies in its guest vocals.
The two best tracks on the album come largely as a result of the featuring vocals. ‘Boombox’ is a wonderful little R&B tune on the power of the boombox featuring the leader singer of the Strokes, Julian Casablancas. But by far the greatest track on the album is Natalie’s Rap by none other than the wonderful Natalie Portman. Nothing gets an album featured on my blog more than Natalie Portman freestylin’ about people sucking her d*ck, bands everywhere should take note…
