Currently in Rotation - Lily Allen
I finally got my hands on this album again in anticipation of her 2nd full length album that is coming out in Feb. 2009. This album is part hip hop and part crass pop princess. Think about Robbie Williams and Pink making a very cute and clever coke head. I love it, it is witty and fun. ‘Smile’ is a seminal classic for brit pop and ‘Knock ‘Em Out’ is hilarious. Her voice is grating when it needs to be and pretty when you least expect it.
Her new album, It’s Not You, It’s Me (which I managed to snag 5 tracks from the interweb) is poised to be even better than this one too! ‘The Fear’ is the new single and it is super catchy as are the other tracks. The chorus to ‘F*ck You’ is sweet and coarse all at once and it makes me want to jump up and dance. If you have never listened to Lily Allen, get over to itunes and check her out. She also got her start through MySpace more or less so cruise over there and read her blog and download some tracks.
