Well another year has arrived and another NCAA National Tournament is about to be underway. It is no secret that I don’t care that much about basketball. One may even equate my distaste for the sport similar to the way Dan Ridell held Soccer with such disdain on the Emmy winning show Sports Night.
But there is something about brackets aren’t there? I am not saying that this thought is a new one, I am sure bloggers everywhere are prepping their sites to drone on about just that! Who cares about college basketball? The real reason I pay attention is for the bracket. The first two rounds of the tourney are all consuming, I can’t keep my eyes off the myriad of scores dancing along the bottom of the television. I dart back and forth between the T.V. and my bracket.
Sure I have paid some money to fill out this bracket and maybe that could be considered a form of gambling, but hey I never said I was opposed to gambling. The bracket is just a fancy version of bingo. There is no amount of research that is going to say for sure that 14th seeded Boise State has any chance of upsetting #3 Louisville, but you and I both know that it is entirely possible. And even more exciting is not only is it possible for Boise State to advance to round two, but it will jack a lot of brackets up! And that my friend is what it is all about. Human Misery! haha.
