AMC Mainstreet 6 Theatre
This week Cara and I met for a date night at the new Mainstreet Theatre in Downtown Kansas City. This theatre is classy. From the moment you walk in the doors, you are greeted with high ceiling and art installations that are just amazing. Throw in assigned seating and a full bar at the front of the building, there may not be a reason to ever go to another theatre in town! Some of the subtleties that we noticed right off the bat were as follows:
The price of a ticket is a bit higher than most theaters, but being able to purchase beer and wine at the concession stand and 6 flavored toppings for your popcorn make you forget pretty quickly. I mean they had Stella on tap!
Because there are only 6 screens, the bathrooms and lobby are super close to your seat, so no worries about missing a minute of the previews.
The assigned seating is a cool idea, once you buy a ticket, there is no reason to rush to your seat, it will be waiting for you!
The leg room and subwoofers under the chairs really help make you feel like you are part of the movie.
All in all this seems like a really classy place to take a date and enjoy a little quiet time before you make the short walk to the Power and Light district. Next time we will definitely check out the full service Balcony screens that give you waiters and recliners!
